Liberian President Joseph Boakai is expected to arrive in Freetown today, Monday 18th November, on his first visit to Sierra Leone since assuming office.
Mr Boakai will traveled to Freetown by road, the Liberian presidency said. He is expected to enter Sierra Leone through Liberia’s Bo-Waterside border entry point into Pujehun on the Sierra Leonean side.
A high profile reception for the Liberian leader is planned for his entry in Jendema, a Memo from the Ministry of Local Government in Freetown seen by ManoReporters shows.
Liberian Presidential Press Secretary, Kula Fofana, said the visit is geared towards strengthening collaboration in economic development between the two countries, as well as regional security.
The Liberian leader will be accompanied by an array of government officials for the visit that will last for five days, according to Ms Fofana who spoke to journalists in Monrovia in a press conference.
Among the presidential delegation will be Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Agriculture Minister Alexander Nuetah, Internal Affairs Minister, Francis Nyumalin and Information Minister, Jerolinmek Piah, Fofana added.
Also part of the delegation, she said, will be National Security Advisor, Samuel Kofi Woods and some members from his Economic Advising team.
As part of his parked schedule, President Boakai is expected to visit the Secretariat of the Mano River Union in Freetown, which is presently headed by a Liberian.
