Two women said to be of Sierra Leonean nationality have been arrested by Guinean security officials over alleged possession of Cocaine.
Guinean authorities said on Friday that the suspects were intercepted in the town of Kourémalé at the border between Guinea and Mali, with a total of 10 packets of the drug on them. They were then transported to the city of Siguiri, where they are detained.
The two suspects were presented to the press in the presence of the security and judicial authorities.
One of them, identified as Aminata Mansaray, was quoted by the Guinean media saying that they had left Sierra Leone for Ghana, via Guinea and Mali.
A Guinean prosecutor responsible for investigating the matter in Siguiri, Ibrahima Camara, said investigations were ongoing.
