(VIDEO) Interview: First Lady Fatima Bio speaks on Hands of Our Girls Campaign

This month – December 2024 – marks the seventh anniversary of the launch of the Hands Off Our Girls campaign by First Lady Fatima Bio. The campaign was inspired by deafening calls for tougher action against the backdrop of rising cases of sexual and gender based violence in Sierra Leone. A lot of developments have taken place within the last seven years in the fight against SGBV. Among the latest was the enactment of the child marriage ban law in June this year. Mrs Bio granted me an interview ahead of the commemoration and we discussed the spirit behind the campaign, its successes and challenges.
