Onion is one of the most sought-after groceries in Sierra Leone, with annual imports of about 10, 000 tonnes of the commodity, according to government data. There have been recurrent shortages of the products in recent years, which has led to hike in prices. Pee Cee Holding, a leading consumer goods importer, has decided to grow the commodity local. And it has bagged an investment deal with the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group to realize this ambitious scheme. ManoReporters Editor, Kemo Cham reports from Mathene Village outside Lungi in the Port Loko District.
