The rapid proliferation of citizen journalism has made it increasingly difficult to differentiate verified information from unverified ones. This has left the public vulnerable to fake news, posing security threats to the nations. With the 2023 general elections fast approaching, the stakes have only become higher for Sierra Leone, which has had its share of the experience dealing with fake news. FactSpace West Africa, a leading fact checking organization, is leading an initiative in collaboration with the Media Reform Coordinating Group (MRCG) and other partners to equip media practitioners and other key players involved in the information ecosystems to counter disinformation, misinformation and debunk fake news ahead of next year’s elections. The detail is in this report by Manoreporters.
